Fashion without compassion is simply out of style. Millions of animals are slaughtered needlessly for our thoughtless wants and desires in the name of fashion whose trends come and go. Animals are killed and trapped in cruel and horrfic ways, and it is simply unecessary. Leather and fur fashions are simply cruel and absolutely sinful, as this reason for slaughtering innocent, beautiful, helpless and often endangered animals is done for nothing more than luxury. I could go on here about what happens in the fur and skin trade industries, but I think it's enough to realize that death for fashion is just wrong. Those in the fur industry have a vested interest in profit and while many will try to make their consumers feel more comforted by expressing that fur is "recycled" or that it helps get rid of "garbage" by feeding it to the animals being raised for fur, the bottom line is, cruelty for fashion is simply heartless. What we wear can make a statement about who we are and to me, losing sight of who I am and who and what my actions impact upon is too high a price to pay for status, style or comfort. For me, it's all about what kind of world I want to live in, what kind of person I want to be, and how my actions are consistent with those ideals.
